Activate Spotlight
Our normal Activate sessions were replaced by the End of Year Activate Spotlight for this weekend, where all Activate students had the opportunity to showcase the work they’ve been building in Activate over the past 4 months. The Activate Spotlight hosted industry experts from technical fields, VC backgrounds, angel investing, VP roles, and more, to watch the presentations from all the Activate students.
Sophia Dhami and I got the opportunity to open the Activate Spotlight as the first presentation of the day for our idea, ClotGuard. Here was our slide deck for the event:
After we got to present, we were then asked questions by some of the industry experts in the audience. The main point of the Activate Spotlight is to connect Activate students with professionals who are passionate about helping us turn our work into reality. We left the Spotlight with a lot of new connections to help push ClotGuard forward, and that is considered a success for us!
The Spotlight schedule looked like this:
Mainstage presentations 1-3
Domain-specific breakout rooms (where students presented simultaneously)
Mainstage presentations 4-6
One of the things I loved about the Spotlight was getting the chance to see what my fellow Activates are working on throughout the program. Sometimes, you can be so focused on your work that it’s almost insane to hear about what all the other people are working on. It’s a great opportunity to learn new things and connect with your peers to learn more about their work.
I really enjoyed the Activate Spotlight and am happy to see the connections we got from it, as well as the new opportunities for ClotGuard that were obtained. Next session is a non-cohort session, where all Activate students get together for the last session of the year before picking up the pace again in January, so I’m looking forward to all of that!
