Activate Accelerate Session 3

For this Accelerate session, a guide for the week wasn’t provided because last week was prep time for the Activate Spotlight that took place. So, while everyone was focusing on getting their presentations ready, we spent this session focusing on setting proper monthly goals and how to conduct proper daily updates.

In Accelerate, just like Velocity last year, we get a weekly tracker where we track our progress week by week, as well as reflect on ourselves to make sure we continue to grow and learn from our experiences. One part of the weekly tracker includes monthly goal setting. Monthly goals not only act as actionable milestones to make sure we are getting tangible work done throughout Accelerate, but they also influence what our weekly goals will be and how we will use our time week by week to make sure we will achieve our monthly goals at the end of the month.

It’s recommended that at least 50% of your weekly goals are focused on your monthly goals, because that way you can ensure you’re making progress. It also helps to organize your goals into specific sections (like TKS+Focus Goals, School Goals, Personal Goals, etc.), not only to make your milestones clearer for yourself, but also for those in the Accelerate program to help keep you accountable.

We then did a quick review on daily updates. A requirement for Accelerate, also like in Velocity, is to send daily updates to your Accelerate “squads”. These daily updates include things like your goals for the day/week, what you’ve accomplished, and reflections on your day. But, it’s important to make sure that your daily updates have tangible goals and specific tasks, just like your weekly trackers, in order to ensure you’re completing everything that needs to get done in order to achieve your monthly goals. The point of daily updates is to keep you on track and keep reflecting on yourself from day to day. Constant “observation” and reflection of yourself will only help you progress throughout Accelerate and make the meaningful progress you’re looking to achieve. I structure my daily updates like this:

1: Weekly Goals

Focus

  • Task

Relationships

  • Task

School

  • Deadline: Task

2: Accomplished Today

  • Task

3: What I Didn’t Get Done

  • Task

4: Tomorrow’s Goals

  • Task

5: Daily Habits

Daily Update |

8+ Hrs Of Sleep |

Journal In The Evening |

6: How I’m Feeling

7: Reflection

8: Grateful For

9: Mindset

Having my daily updates structured like this allows me to focus on the more structured parts of my day (like making sure that I’m making more progress towards achieving my goals) while also reflecting on myself and my performance (like how I’m incorporating the MotW into my daily life).

And that was the Accelerate session for this week. We have a couple more Accelerate sessions before the New Year, and then things are really going to pick up again, which I’m excited for!
